I am fairly high functioning but where the holes are — the holes are. It is confusing enough to me living in the middle of it. Therefore it is extremely confusing to someone who does not know about brain injuries. They cannot see or understand the challenges
People tend to get impatient with brain injury survivors. “Move on already! Your brain injury was x number of years ago!”. Outsiders cannot grasp how much a brain injury changes who a person is; how it changes one’s sense of self
Blessings, yes there actually are some to a brain injury. Call them Silver Linings inside a dark cloud. Call them Brain Blessings. And almost every blessing is the flip side of one of the difficulties of the brain damage.
