High IQ (HIQ)

HIQ: Pronounced Hike

I strongly dislike the word “Gifted” as it is used currently as a euphemism for high IQ. IQ is a continuum that falls into a bell shaped curve. Every single number on that continuum has gifts. Therefore I want to suggest a new nomenclature for high IQ: HIQ pronounced Hike.

I think understanding our giftedness is very important for any person with a high IQ to heal from and live with a TBI. The very things that make us different are the very things that make our TBIs different. Having a TBI and a high IQ is a very mixed blessing.
